Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.
— Oscar Wilde

I became interested in the power of masks and researched masks from sub Saharan Africa and its influences on Caribbean Carnival rituals. I came upon my love of both portraiture and process and came to appreciate representation and performance as pleasure.

I am interested in how people form identity through wearing masks. All oil on canvas, minimum 5ft x 5ft.
